We also add posts at the house ledger, meaning we minimally attach to your home & deck is fully supported on its own, not relying on house structure for support.
Rim Joist, Rim Joist are the outside band of the deck (the rim) that make up the decks shape & supports the actual deck. Particularly important to the support is the rim joist butted to the house & the rim joist parallel to that one, its not standard in the industry to double (2x) this area, but we always do, adding to the strength, durability & peace of mind that you have added a strong & long lasting deck addition to your home.

Deck Flooring Options
Wood flooring.
Probably the most versatile in terms of appearance, composite and traditional wood decking can give your outdoor patio flooring a rustic, homey feel or a chic, polished, modern look. As we know, wood never goes out of style, making wood (both composite and traditional) a choice that won’t go out of style.
Composite flooring
Composite wood decking gives you the best of both worlds. With modern technology, you can achieve a gorgeous, realistic wood look without the challenges of traditional wood. Composite deck flooring is like the luxury vinyl of the porch flooring market. Maybe some out-of-date folks are still turning their nose up at it, but others are embracing composite decking as the outdoor flooring of the future. Composite decks, like vinyl floors, bring you realistic wood looks without any of the hassle.
Optional depending on deck design quoted
Ends of manufactured deck boards are ugly, and you don’t want to leave them exposed. There are a couple ways to hide them. The easiest solution is to raise the fascia board so the top is flush with the top of the decking (Photo B). But keep in mind that most fascia/skirt boards are 11-1/4 in. wide, which means they aren’t wide enough to fully cover both the deck boards and a 2×12 joist. Another way to hide the ends is to install a border/perimeter board around the outside edges of the deck (Photo A). This method can really dress up your deck, especially if you choose an accent color for this board.
Fasteners
Hidden Deck-Fastening System is the ideal solution for blending holding strength and ease of installation without detracting from the deck’s finished appearance.

Whatever the structural requirements HMC is up to the task.
Longer spans, fewer posts
Engineered lumber has been used inside buildings for years because it’s stronger and straighter than regular lumber. And now there are versions for outdoor use. It may not be cost effective to frame an entire deck with engineered lumber, but installing an engineered-lumber drop beam is a great way to reduce the number of posts and footings needed to support a deck
